# Calculate Concrete Volume of a Trapezoidal Footing:

Suppose, you have to calculate a trapezoidal footing concrete volume in your project. All measurement are given in millimeter. For this reason, at first you will have to collect the data from structural drawing.

Now we can assume a full data for estimating the concrete volume of trapezoidal footing.

Length of footing = 3200mm
Width of footing = 3200mm
Thickness, t1 = 375mm
Thickness, t2 = 225mm
Column length = 750mm
Column Width = 500mm

So, Area A1 = 3200mm x 3200mm
= 3.2m x 3.2m
= 10.24 Square meter

For area a2, we have some calculation.

Column length = 750+600+600=1950mm = 1.950m

Column width = 500+600+600=2300mm = 2.3m

So Area, A2 = 2.3m x 1.950m
= 4.485 Square meter

Height, h = 225mm = 0.225m

We know the formula, that is,

Volume, V = h/3 {A1+A2+(ROOT A1xA2)}
= 0.225/3{10.24+4.485+(ROOT 10.24x4.485)}
= 0.075 x 21.50
= 1.61 Cubic Meter for trapezoidal area.

Now, Volume for area A1 = 3.2 x3.2 x0.375 meter cube
= 3.84 Cubic Meter Concrete

So, Total concrete volume = 3.84 + 1.61 Cubic meter
= 5.45 Cubic Meter Concrete.

Example-1:

Length of footing = 4400mm
Width of footing = 4400mm
Thickness, t1 = 600mm
Thickness, t2 = 400mm
Column length = 750mm
Column Width = 500mm

So, Area A1 = 4400mm x 4400mm
= 4.4m x 4.4m
= 19.36 Square meter

For area a2, we have some calculation.

Column length = 750+600+400=1750mm = 1.750m

Column width = 500+600+400=1500mm = 1.5m

So Area, A2 = 1.75m x 1.50m
= 2.625 Square meter

Height, h = 400mm = 0.40m

We know the formula, that is,

Volume, V = h/3 {A1+A2+(ROOT A1xA2)}
= 0.4/3{19.36+2.625+(ROOT 19.36x2.625)}
= 0.13 x 29.11
= 3.78 Cubic Meter for trapezoidal area.

Now, Volume for area A1 = 4.4 x4.4 x0.6 meter cube
11.61 Cubic Meter Concrete

So, Total concrete volume = 11.61 + 3.78 Cubic meter
= 15.39 Cubic Meter Concrete.

Example-2:

Length of footing = 2200mm
Width of footing = 2200mm
Thickness, t1 = 375mm
Thickness, t2 = 250mm
Column length = 750mm
Column Width = 500mm

So, Area A1 = 2200mm x 2200mm
= 2.2m x 2.2m
= 4.84 Square meter

For area a2, we have some calculation.

Column length = 750+625+625=2000mm = 2m

Column width = 500+625+625=1750mm = 1.75m

So Area, A2 = 2m x 1.750m
= 3.5 Square meter

Height, h = 250mm = 0.25m

We know the formula, that is,

Volume, V = h/3 {A1+A2+(ROOT A1xA2)}
= 0.25/3{4.84+3.5+(ROOT 4.84x3.5)}
= 0.083 x 12.45
= 1.0375 Cubic Meter for trapezoidal area.

Now, Volume for area A1 = 2.2 x2.2 x0.375 meter cube
1.815 Cubic Meter Concrete

So, Total concrete volume = 1.815 + 1.0375 Cubic meter
= 2.85 Cubic Meter Concrete.

Example-3:

Length of footing = 4200mm
Width of footing = 4200mm
Thickness, t1 = 300mm
Thickness, t2 = 150mm
Column length = 750mm
Column Width = 500mm

So, Area A1 = 4200mm x 4200mm
= 4.2m x 4.2m
= 17.64 Square meter

For area a2, we have some calculation.

Column length = 750+450+450=1650mm = 1.650m

Column width = 500+450+450=1400mm =1.4m

So Area, A2 = 1.65m x 1.40m
= 2.31 Square meter

Height, h = 150mm = 0.15m

We know the formula, that is,

Volume, V = h/3 {A1+A2+(ROOT A1xA2)}
= 0.15/3{17.64+2.31+(ROOT 17.64x2.31)}
= 0.05 x 26.33
= 1.31 Cubic Meter for trapezoidal area.

Now, Volume for area A1 = 4.2 x4.2 x 0.3 meter cube
5.29 Cubic Meter Concrete

So, Total concrete volume = 5.29 + 1.31 Cubic meter
= 6.60 Cubic Meter Concrete.
