How to Layout a Building Properly with Practical Knowledge.

 

Layout a Building

Layout of a Building:

The main and first works of a building is the layout setting. Before starting the construction works of a building, layout setting must be need according to the relevant with architectural and structural design and drawing.


Purpose of Building Layout:

To built a dream home for any kinds of person is normal. For this reason, at first need property to built the building. Then need survey result and rules for that property and then need final drawing and design. After completing all issues, go for setting up layout of building with properly.

Details of Materials:

Design and Drawing: Before starting the works, design and drawing architectural and structural must be need.

Calculator: To find out any kind of equation and formula output and mathematics terms, calculator must be need.

Paint and Suta: For layout the actual point and fixing the point, paint and suta would be need. Mark the fixed point with paint and find out the point by arranging suta.

Steel Cabinet: Use steel cabinet for layout the building.

White Board: At the time of layout setting of building, white board must be need. Write the date and time on the white board. Also record all relevant issues on the board.

Gumboot: Use gumboot during layout setting time. Because gumboot will give you protection from any kind of harmful insects or others things in the project.

Shall Bolly: Use shall bolly or rebar to fixed the point of column and foundation.

Tester: Use tester to confirm any kinds of electricity leakage or damage issues in that building during layout setting.

Polythene: Use polythene if need for any others works during layout.

Mattam: Mattam is the most important materials in layout setting time. It has been use for measuring actual 90 degree angle of building.

Spade: To digging the soil spade will be need. When building layout point will be fixed then digging the soil for prevent movement of soil.

Nail: Nail would be used for fixing the point on the wooden board.

Measuring Tape: Measure all of distance vertical and horizontal with measuring tape according to the design and drawing.

Office Stationaries: All of office stationaries will be used for layout the building if need.

Notice Board: Write the schedule, project launch time, details about project on the notice board.

Chain: Chain will be used during layout setup.

Steel Joist: Steel joist also be use during setting time.

Plus: To cutting and tensioning the wire, plus will be need at the time of layout setup.

Shable: To digging the soil including thin portion, shable will be need.

Belcha: For casting the fixed point with concrete, belcha must be need.

Sprit Level: for measuring the flat, straight places and levelling up down with equal then sprit level will be need.

Besides these materials, others can be use for layout setting time.


Layout System and Procedure: 

(1) At first, study the drawing and design with very carefully and relevant with architectural and structural drawing.

(2) Choose the most straight and vertical alignment correct boundary wall in the project. Then start the layout setting  from that boundary wall.

(3) According to the drawing and design, fix the north-south and east-west direction. 

(4) Then the yarn should be pulled according to the grid line.

(5) Fix the layout corner of the building. 

(6) Check the corner 90 degree angle position by mattam or Pythagoras formula.

(7) Check the corner by mattam or by Pythagoras formula.


 Pythagoras Formula:

Take two point on the suta by 3 feet and 4 feet distance . Make a triangle. If other corner suta is 5 feet accurate then it is ok. And if not accurate, then it has not ok.

(8) Then yarn should be pulled straight to the other corner.

(9) Measure the total land area according to the drawing.

(10) And check the set back rules according to the drawing.

(11) If the space is smaller or larger than drawing, the management must be informed. 

(12) If the place is right, the rest of the lines have to be drawn according to the grid line and each diagonal has to be check.

(13) The points of the grid line should be marked with the help of extension wall starter.

(14) The layout has to be checked more than once, because if the layout is wrong, the whole building will be wrong.

(15) You have to check the layout through another unit.

(16) Once the layout is final, each point must be marked in red colors.

(17) A pillar of 10 inch by 10 inch should be made on either side as per convenience.

(18) Then the head level of the pillar should be leveled with PL level.

(19) Footings at the bottom of this pillar or BM and vertical measurements at the top should be taken.

(20) The Centre line of each column should be placed on the footing according to the drawing from the grid line .

(21) Note that the Centre line of the footing and Centre line of the column must be at the same point.


Errors and Solutions:

(1) If the corners do not match, then you have to look at the size again and again and match the size here and there.

(2) The diagonal should be checked repeatedly if it does not match.

(3) Grid line distance must be checked repeatedly and Centre line should be checked according to drawing.

(4) If there is any big problem then the designer should be informed.
